BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE

Make this tasty cake and top with a simple homemade caramel sauce for a decadent dessert!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED:  Butter, sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, flour, baking powder, baking soda, buttermilk, caramel sauce, whipping cream, and powdered sugar. 

Cream the butter and sugar together until smooth, then add the eggs to the mixture, one at a time, beating between each addition. 

Add in the buttermilk and dry ingredients and mix as directed.  Then divide 1/3 of the batter and mix in caramel sauce. 

Pour 1/3 of the batter into the pan, then pour the caramel batter, and finish with the remainin gbatter.  Bake as directed. 

Let the cake cool in the pan for 20 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to finish cooling.  It is best to cool completely before adding sauce. 

In a large bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and caramel to make a glaze.  It should be similar to a thick batter, able to drizzle. 

Spoon or drizzle the sauce over the prepared cake before serving.  For more traditional icing, add additional powdered sugar to mixture.
