INGREDIENTS

Sweet potatoes, brown sugar, water, salt, butter.  Optional:  ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, marshmallows, almonds, pecans, or walnuts.

A perfect way to use sweet potatoes as a sweet side dish with a hint of savory!

Peel the sweet potatoes then cut into 1/2" chunks or rounds. 

Prep the potatoes:

Place the potatoes in the saucepan with sugar, butter, salt, and water.  Then bring to a boil. 

Cover then cook the sweet potatoes for 18 to 20 minutes

Cook the potatoes:

Once the sweet potatoes are fork tender, remove them from the pot leaving the sugar liquid.

Continue cooking the sugar syrup for an additional 7 to 10 minutes until it is bubbling and thickened.

Cook the syrup:

Pour the syrup over the cooked potatoes before serving.
