BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN

The simple flavors and crispy coating of this fried chicken will take you back to grandma's house for Sunday dinner!

INGREDIENTS:  Chicken pieces Flour Cornstarch Buttermilk Adobo Italian seasoning Seasoned salt Garlic powder Onion powder Paprika Chili powder Cumin Black pepper Salt Shortening

Whisk together the spices, then divide and add 1/2 to the buttermilk.  Put the chicken into the buttermilk and cover then chill for 1 hour. 

In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, and remaining seasoning. Whisk until blended then dip the marinated chicken into the flour mixture. 

Place the chicken into hot oil or shortening, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until 165F internally and golden brown on the outside. 

Drain the chicken on paper towels then season with salt.  Repeat the process until all is cooked.  Serve hot with your favorite side dishes!
