All-purpose flour Cornstarch Baking powder Salt Butter Sugar Oil Sour cream Vanilla & coconut extract Coconut milk Egg whites Cream of tartar Coconut shreds
Prepare the baking dish and preheat the oven. Sift together the dry ingredients as directed.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and oil. Next, mix the sour cream, coconut extract, vanilla extract, coconut flakes, and coconut milk into the wet mixture.
Add the sifted dry ingredients and the coconut milk to the wet ingredients alternating 1/2 at a time until combined.
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar into stiff peaks. Fold the egg whites into the cake batter until completely incorporated.
Once the egg whites are incorporated, pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake as directed.
Ice the cake with homemade frosting and top with toasted coconut flakes before serving.
