HOMEMADE SPRINKLES

These are the perfect easy sprinkles to make and top cookies, cakes, or ice cream with!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED:  – 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted and divided (170g) – 2 tablespoons water (30ml) – 1 tablespoon corn syrup (15ml) – 1 teaspoon clear vanilla flavoring (5ml)

Sift 2 cups of the powdered sugar into a bowl so no lumps remain, then add in the corn syrup and whisk until it is combined. 

Add the additional 1 cup of powdered sugar into the mixture and beat until smooth and thickened.  This will be a thick brownie like batter. 

Divide the mixture into bowls, one per color you want to make.  Then add 1 to 2 drops food color to each bowl and stir until incorporated. 

Put the mixture into a piping bag with a tiny tip, then pipe long lines on a parchment lined baking sheet.  Let this dry for at least 12 hours. 

Once dry, break up the different colors of sprinkles and toss them together.  Then you can store them in an airtight container or use on your favorite cupcakes!
