Butter Cream cheese Sugar Egg Vanilla extract Flour Cornstrach Cocoa powder Salt

STEP 1

Cream together the butter and cream cheese in a large bowl.

STEP 2

Add in the egg, vanilla, and food coloring to create the red color found in most red velvet dishes.

STEP 3

Into the red dough, mix in the cocoa powder, flour, cornstarch, and salt.

STEP 4

Blend until a sticky dough forms.  Add additional food coloring if needed.

STEP 5

Roll out the red dough and cut cookies in shapes desired. Then bake as directed until browned lightly.

STEP 6

Cool the cookies completely before decorating with cream cheese icing and sprinkles.
