You are going to fall in love with this apple slab pie recipe with a flaky homemade pie crust that is easy to make and a classic Americana style dessert!

Ingredients
Pie Crust Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp granulated sugar
1 3/4 cup unsalted butter, ice cold and cubed
3/4 cup ice cold water
1 egg
Apple Pie Filling Ingredients
3 lbs Granny Smith apples, peeled and cubed
2 lbs Honeycrisp apples, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp lemon juice
Zest of 1 lemon
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Simple Glaze Ingredients
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Lightly dust a clean surface with flour then turn out 1 ball of dough and roll out into a thin rectangular shape large enough to cover the casserole dish chosen.
Repeat with the second ball of dough.
Place one of the crusts into the bottom of your baking dish and press down and up the sides.
In a large bowl, combine the chopped apples, granulates sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla.
Stir to combine and coat the apples evenly.
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust and baking dish.
Cover the apples with the second pie crust and crimp around the edges to seal.
In a small bowl whisk the egg with 2 tablespoons water and then brush over the top of the crust.
Place onto the middle rack of the oven, uncovered, and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden and bubbling.
While the pie is baking, mix together the powdered sugar and cream to create a simple glaze.
Once the pie is done cooking, allow it to cool slightly before drizzling on the simple glaze.
Serve with additional glaze, caramel syrup drizzle, whipped cream, or ice cream.
