Easy Deep Fried Peach Cobbler Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 (15-ounce) can canned peaches (425 g)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (213 g)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon (5.2 g)
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (1.2 g)
  • ½ tsp all spice (1 g)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, divided (113 g)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil (125 ml)
  • 1 (8 ct) can) flaky layers biscuits

Instructions

  1. In a deep-sided cast-iron skillet, melt 1/4 cup butter over medium-high heat. 
  2. To the butter, add the juice from the canned peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.  Stir to combine. Syrup cooking down in cast iron skillet
  3. Bring this mixture to a boil, stirring regularly.  
  4. Add the peaches to the skillet and stir to combine. 
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking for 8 to 10 minutes. Peaches in syrup in skillet
  6. Once thickened, remove from heat and set aside. 
  7. In a clean skillet, add the olive oil and remaining butter and heat over medium-high heat. 
  8. Pull the biscuits apart, splitting them in half. 
  9. Place the biscuits into the hot oil and butter mixture, making sure not to crowd the pan.  
  10. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side until cooked through and golden brown. 
  11. Remove the biscuits from the oil and drain on paper towels. Fried biscuits on paper towels
  12. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. 
  13. Layer the biscuits into a serving bowl and pour the peaches and syrup over the top.

Notes

Flaky layered biscuits work best for this recipe.
